Why NORDFOLK supports Polar Bears

Being part of The Conscious Travel Foundation means encourage to the positive impact of the travel industry on the environment; protecting and conserving the planet for generations to come.

With Svalbard warming four times faster than the rest of the planet, we wanted support a project of which the community is motivated to do its part to reduce emissions.

Melting of ice in Svalbard due to climate change can be observed through satellite imagery and direct measurements. As the ice melts, it has a significant impact on the wildlife living on the ice. Animals such as polar bears and seals rely on the ice for hunting, resting, and breeding, so the reduction in ice cover disrupts their habitat and makes it more challenging for them to find food. This, in turn, affects the entire ecosystem, as these animals play a crucial role in maintaining a balanced food chain in the region.

At Polar Bears International, their mission is to conserve polar bears and the sea ice they depend on. The organisation work to address both short and long-term threats to polar bears to ensure they roam the sea ice for generations to come.

We at Nordfolk find their ethos close to our heart.

As our preferred partner, you are an important contributer to our donation of 1% of our revenue to a sustainable project; Polar Bears International.
